They fell in love, didn't they?
Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling are back together.
Which gives me a great excuse to post this clip.
We were having a conversation about The Notebook at work and a majority of the ladies at the office would pick Lon Hammond Jr. (played by James Marsden) over Noah Calhoun (played by Ryan Gosling).
Dub tee eff?!
Yes, Hammond (played by James Marsden) is rich, charming and good-looking...

...but come on!
Noah built Allie her dream house! And he's a poet! And he looks like this!

In my world, love > money every time.
I guess that's why I'm marrying a writer who kisses me twenty times a day and sings to me instead of a CEO who's never home.

Ramble on. Now's the time. The time is now...
+ I've had Sabra Price Is Right stuck in my head all day. Does anyone remember this SNL sketch? It was from the 1991 season and featured Tom Hanks as a Middle-Eastern Bob Barker. Hilarious. If you don't believe me, check it out for yourself:
+ The last time I ate Indian food in PA was a miserable experience. I mean, I may as well have ordered a bowl of failure topped with defeat sprinkles. Almost a year later, I decided to give it another shot and lucked out. I hit up India Garden in West Chester and ordered a classic -- mutter paneer. It was perfect -- not too spicy, they didn't cheap out on the paneer and even the rice was good (as a general rule, I hate rice. It's bland and boring. I realize as an Asian this is akin to treason, but dude seriously? Rice = lame). India Garden -- Generic name, far from generic food. If you're ever in Dub C, check it out.
+ I saw the coolest graffiti I saw on the way back from the mall -- "Harvey Dent, Take Back Gotham!" Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to take a picture of it (handling a digital camera while driving = inevitable death), but I'll try to next time.
+ My new earrings rock. A lot.
+ You know what else rocks? My new hair. I have bangs for the first time ever. They are super cute.
+ Want. Want. Want. Nancy Botwin has one and she's my homegirl. Well, at least she was when she was rockin' the suburbs. Now...well, we'll have to see where she goes.
+ Pauline's Tumblr is pretty awesome. You should check it out.

The buttons and the pins and the loud fanfares
Jordan Knight's a total sleaze and Danny Wood still resembles The Missing Link, but damn it -- New Kids On The Block still rock my world.

Reason #14484653131364874631797913213 The Best Friend is my best friend -- In the same three minute span, he downloaded and emailed Tonight by New Kids On The Block for me and managed to call me, 'such an asshole' for a completely unrelated matter. Man, I miss my broseph.

Mortal Nemesii Part 2
The copier/fax machine at work. We are no longer on speaking terms. As much as I would like to live in the world of Office Space, recreating the PC Load Letter scene at 8:30 in the morning? Seriously not cute. On a more positive note though? I'd watch Kung Fu with Peter Gibbons any day.

Let's focus less on the fact that I look like an ass and more on how ridiculously good-looking Ron Livingston is, shall we?
Voice activated customer service helplines. Was Terminator 2 a teeny little indie flick that only I saw? Does nobody else live in fear of the day computers become sentient and collectively band together to eff us in the a? After talking to a robotically perky operator for a good five minutes, I heard it say, “Thank you! I now have all your information in front of me!” First off – you’re not a me! You’re an it! A thing! Not a being! And secondly, the fact that you have all my information makes me feel nuts in that tin-foil hat kinda way.
The VCR. It fell on my foot and if I ever get a hold of Dan’s baseball bat, I’m gonna recreate the following scene:

When I saw that iconic silhouette and heard that incredible score again, I swear I got goosebumps. I can't wait until this movie comes out.

You tried to save the sandwich from a bullet?
I am not a foodie by any stretch of the imagination. Being a vegetarian has a tendency to put the kibosh on chowing down on Kobe beef, roasted duck, lardo and ceviche. I'm not really a food snob, either. I'm perfectly content sipping on Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate instead of plunking down $4 for a Starbucks Hot Chocolate.
But -- I am passionate about what I eat. I fall in love with food in the same way most people fall in love with other people -- completely and rapturously. You can't stop talking about your beloved and want to be with them all the time.
I fell in love again recently. With Sandwich -- a food so glorious that it deserves to be considered as a proper noun. I've had one of these every day for the last three days and I plan on having one for dinner tonight.
Sandwich is simple, easy to make and weepingly delicious. Eating it for the first time caused me to have a bit of a metaphysical crisis -- "Why? Why did I even bother eating anything else? This is so good! So good!"
So, because I want you to be as gloriously happy as I am when eating Sandwich, here is the how-to:
+ One Amoroso Hoagie Roll (Yes, it must be an Amoroso roll because they are proof of divinity. Dan told me that bread tasted better in Philly because of the water. I didn't believe him and then, I moved here and completely changed my mind. Trust me on this one).
+ Extra Virgin Olive Oil (And for those of you thinking, "Oooh! EVOO!", let me paraphrase a little Anthony Bourdain for you -- "Rachael Ray does to food what Hitler did to Poland")
+ Red onion
+ Green pepper
+ Portobello mushrooms
+ Mozzarella cheese
+ Sundried tomatoes
+ Salt, black pepper and basil.
Drizzle the olive oil lightly on the bread. Lay down portobello mushroom slices. Lightly drizzle olive oil again. Layer alternating rings of pepper and onion. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and basil. Lay down sundried tomatoes. Add cheese. Add salt, pepper and basil again.
Bake at 350°F for ten minutes or until melty and slightly blackened.
Serve with sweet tea and experience gastronomic ecstasy/metaphysical crisis.
A conversation between Dan and I last night:
Jaime (with mouthful of Sandwich): I love you.
Dan: I love you t...Wait. You're talking to the sandwich, aren't you?
Jaime (muffled by Sandwich): Mmmhmph...yeah.
And if that doesn't convince you how amazing Sandwich is, here is a man who truly understands the importance of sandwiches -- Mr. Ross Geller:

Rolling Stone Magazine: Best 100 songs of 2007
As 2007 comes to a close, everyone gets a little list-happy and starts bulletpointing the year -- best movies of the year, best celebrity meltdowns, best sandwich featuring chipotle as a condiment (my vote goes to Wawa. Their hoagies rock my world), whatever.
As expected, Rolling Stone Magazine came out with a list of the Best 100 Songs of 2007. As expected, the list consisted of an assortment of tracks that never made it to my ear drums (#28 -- Crazy Ex-Girlfriend by Miranda Lambert, #65 -- White People For Peace by Against Me!), amazing songs I loved but never heard on the radio (#45 -- Halloweenhead by Ryan Adams) and ear-worms that no-one could escape from (#3 -- Umbrella by Rihanna and #24 -- What Goes Around Comes Around by the ineffable Mr. Timberlake).
Also as expected, Rolling Stone made some glaring errors in judgment. How could one possibly rate Same Girl by R. Kelly and Usher (#26 on the list)
higher than The Pretender by the Foo Fighters (#47 on the list)?!
The former is a thoroughly insipid duet featuring lyrics like: Wait a minute hold on dog. Do she got a crib? By the Waffle House? Do she got a beauty mark on the left side of her mouth? Went to Georgia Tech? Works for TBS? Man I can't believe this shit. Damn!/Tell me what's wrong dog what the hell you damnin' 'bout? I'm your homie so just say what's on your mind.
While The Pretender just flat-out kicks ass. Taylor Hawkins plays like he's riding a herd of stampeding elephants through your central nervous system and Dave Grohl's scathing, politically incisive lyrics just slay me:
Send in your skeletons/Sing as their bones go marching in... again/The need you buried deep/The secrets that you keep are ever ready/Are you ready?/I'm finished making sense/Done pleading ignorance/That whole defense
Paging the Bush Administration. A Dave Grohl's on line one and he's got a message for you.
Come on, Rolling Stone. You're smarter than this. I refuse to believe the home of Cameron Crowe, Lester Bangs, David Fricke, Griel Marcus, Rob Sheffield, Anthony DeCurtis, Jancee Dunn and Hunter S. Thompson would make such an egregious error. So, fix up this little snafu and we won't mention it ever again.
Oh and if you've got a moment, check out Bill Maher's picks for Dickheads of the Year. Wasn't a huge fan of his Halloween costume, but I definitely agree with this list.

Thoughts on Britney Spears' Video Music Awards Performance
Gimme More? No. Please don't. Seriously. I've had enough.
Spears looked like she should have been gyrating at a strip club by the airport instead of being onstage at the Video Music Awards. There was nothing remotely entertaining about the performance. To call it 'mediocre' would be a kindness Spears definitely doesn't deserve. She barely lip synced and barely danced. The entire performance was far more insulting than any of Sarah Silverman's jabs. I think The Fiance put it best when he said, "This is like watching a really bad high school talent show."
"It's Britney, bitch." We know, bitch. Your exploits have been splashed all over various media outlets for entirely too long now. And when did usage of the word 'bitch' become analogous with 'edgy'?
What good is blowing Criss Angel if you can't get some bad-ass magician theatrics out of it?!
I wonder how Camp Britney is going to spin this? I mean, what's the best way of saying, "Our client was out boozing it up until the wee hours and didn't really feel it was her responsibility as an entertainer, to actually entertain" without actually saying, "Our client was out boozing it up until the wee hours and didn't really feel it was her responsibility as an entertainer, to actually entertain."
I read that Spears makes approximately $700,000 a month. You'd think she could take some money out of her Cheetos-and-Red-Bull fund to purchase some better quality hair extensions. Helpful hint -- Claire's at the local mall? Not the best place to buy weave.
Face of the night: 50 Cent.

The expression is classic -- "Trick! Sit yo' tired ass down."
Oh God - this is somebody's mother.

Sonic Love Byte: Wild Horses/Patience -- Guns 'N Roses
I've got this bum ticker, see. If I drink a lot of coffee or get real upset or spend too much time in a hot-tub or sauna -- my heart starts racing. I get a little dizzy and I can't really remember how to breathe too well (in through the nose, right?). My chest feels like it's made of paper and John Bonham soloing right in the middle of it.
It's pretty intense.
Watching this clip and hearing those guitars, my heart felt like I'd be pounding double espressos all night long. Hell, I'm still a little dizzy...and I wouldn't trade that feeling for the world.

Sonic Love Byte: Lily Allen

Reasons I dig Lily Allen:
She's English (like me)
She's a pint-sized pottymouth (again, like me)
She's a blogger (I'm seeing a lot of similarities here...)
Her music is a helluva lot of fun -- she sings about having her ex boyfriend beaten up (Smile), her pot-smoking scrub of a brother (Alfie), her frugal grandma (Nan, You're A Window Shopper which is actually a take on 50 Cent's battle rap Window Shopper) and life in London (LDN).
She's down with puppets.

That's three -- count it!
DOLPHINS: 24VIKINGS: 20
Another win for the 'Fins! That's three since our bye -- Chicago, Kansas City and now, Minnesota.
Although the game wasn't televised at Lush Manor, I didn't miss a minute of the action thanks to The Best Friend's maniacal play-by-play via radio. If Florida experienced sub-zero temperatures, he'd be the shirtless, drunk dude with his body painted orange and teal.

In other NFL news:
Donovan McNabb tore his ACL and will be out for the rest of the season. It's a rough break for him, the team and Eagles fans. I actually really like McNabb as a QB -- he's a good, strong leader. Here's to a speedy recovery for McNabb.

In other random news:
+ Dear Gardenburger: I love you...and I think I'm turning into J. Wellington Wimpy.
+ Dear The Best Friend, The Boyfriend, The Crew and The Family: You are all going to gain weight this holiday season 'cause I'm gonna be baking like Betty Crocker on speed. I hope you guys like cookies and brownies 'cause that's what you're all getting.
And finally, this rocked my world. Hard.

If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.
Back To The Future has been my favorite movie ever since I was a little girl. The first time I saw it, I was convinced that I was going to marry Michael J. Fox. You see, he was little and so was I and in my 5-year-old mind, it made perfect sense that we'd be together.
Eighteen years later, I know that nuptials are out of the question, but I still adore and admire Fox as much as I always did.
This is just one of the reasons why. The man is passionate, eloquent and a class act all the way through.
Stem cell research has the potential to change the face of modern medicine. Just imagine a world where diseases like Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and even cancer are nothing but shadowy memories of the past.
This is still America. This is still a democracy and the people are still in charge. Be the change you wish to see in the world. Get out there and vote. Do the right thing.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation.

Paperweight by Joshua Radin and Schuyler Fisk
I fell in love with this song about a week ago and wanted to share it. I was going to post the mp3, but I don't know what the rules are about that, so the video will have to suffice for now.
That being said, I want to hang out with Zach Braff. That kid's got the best taste in music.
